Biology lessons

The Biology lessons are carried out in each year of the senior eight-year-course as well as four-year-course and they are also completed by laboratory practices in the second, third, fifth and sixth years of the senior eight-year-course and the corresponding years of the four-year-course. In the course of last two years the students have chance to attend a Seminar of Biology.

The majority of the lessons take place in a specialized classroom of Biology equipped with professional teaching tools, models and torsos, literature, boards with interactive 3D projector, microscopes, equipment for microscopy and a digital microscope with visualizer able to project specimens.

Teaching Biology is also complemented by various excursions, biological walks and number of educative lectures and debates with experts from the fields of Biology, Chemistry and Medicine.

Competitions

Every year our school hosts a competition Eco-conference, which is intended for students of the four-year-course and pupils of the surrounding primary schools. The jury consists of the experts appointed from the University of Ostrava, the Centre of Young Natural Scientists and the Moravian-Silesian Region.

Every year, our students participate in biological competitions announced not only by the region itself, but also nationwide. In these competitions we are proud to have successful researchers within the district as well as regional rounds and moreover, three times we advanced to the national round.
