The traditional week of English theatre performances started on 15 December 2015 in Korunka. The staged play was aimed at Ostrava's primary and secondary school audiences and starred students of Olga Havlová Secondary Grammar School.
The project was supported by Mgr. Věra Palková, Deputy Governor, and granted by the Statutory City of Ostrava.
Led by Mgr. Nika Štěpánková, our students have played in English on tens of stages in the region and their audiences have exceeded the number of 10,000 so far. The Christmas period of 2014 was crowned by 'Henry and His Six Wives' - a performance inspired by the life of the infamous Henry VIII. .
Not only could students reveal some parts of British history but they also had an opportunity to test their level of English and enjoy an English play performed by other students.
I would like to thank all the actors for their enthusiasm and hard work, the school management for their exceptional support and Mgr. Nika Štěpánková for the script, directing, coaching and the mark she leaves on each generation of actors.
